Description and Responsibilities

We are now looking for a Savoury Flavourist, reporting to the Senior Flavourist within the Savoury Taste team. They will contribute to Kerry’s growth ambitions within the retail and food service markets developing a wide range of savoury flavours.

 

Your key responsibilities:

  • Modify and create Savoury flavours using various chemical raw materials, and various other raw materials
  • Study effect of flavors in Savoury applications, including shelf life, stability test, flavour retention test in various applications
  • Work with suppliers to develop / introduce new innovative materials
  • Accurately interpret briefs and provide winning Taste solutions to customers
  • Develop flavours to meet customer requirements / predefined proactive initiatives within given deadlines
  • Understand the complex interactions between flavor chemicals and food compounds that drive product taste
  • Read & interpret analytical & sensorial data / results in order to formulate flavours
  • Understand the effect of industrial processing on finished product taste and how to formulate flavours to withstand these processes
  • Work with applications teams to test flavours in application and to understand improvements that can be made
  • Develop relationships with flavourists at other Kerry businesses & regions to share knowledge & expertise and to expand the scientific understanding of flavor chemistry
  • Prepare and maintain accurate recordkeeping on all assigned projects.
  • Utilize good time management skills while working under pressure
  • Work with Marketing Department, Savory Application Specialists, internal and external customers to create customized presentations for major accounts

Qualifications

  • BSc or preferably a Msc in Food Chemistry or related discipline
  • Min. 5 years of experience as Savoury flavourist with proven track record of supporting successful flavour developments.
  • Understanding of aroma chemical raw materials used in Savoury flavours and have the ability to identify aromas and tastes.
  • Naturally inquisitive person, who is willing to challenge long held beliefs norms
  • Open to sharing knowledge & expertise with colleagues
  • Availability to travel
