    Description and Responsibilities

    Overview of Responsibilities:


    Responsible for supervision of Quality and Documentation staff and including but not limited to the following: analytical and microbiological laboratory management, training, maintenance of product and raw material quality records and testing procedures, informing stakeholders of quality issues, and compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and Kerry Standard Operating Procedures. In the absence of the Quality Assurance/Documentation Supervisor the Quality Assurance and Technical Manager/Quality Systems Specialist will serve as backup.


    Responsibility to decrease safety recordables to zero by 2020. Acquire zero NOV (Notice of Violation) for waste water. Decrease PSQ (Product Service Quality / complaints) events and maintain SQF (Safe Quality Foods) compliance. Increase RTFT (Right the First Time) percentages and CSL (Customer Service Level) percentages along with inventory accuracy. 


    Laboratory Supervisor Responsibilities



    • Supervision of Quality staff. This includes scheduling, approving time records, periodic evaluation, counselling, and performance documentation. Responsible for conducting departmental and job specific training.
    • Conduct laboratory analyses and investigations, develop and apply new techniques.
    • Partnership with production and maintenance in achieving goals including problem solving, etc.
    • Maintain files of test results and product dispositions. Support Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
    • Maintain and update product specifications including customer specifications and raw material specifications to reflect any changes or product use requirements. Ensure finished product and raw materials are tested per Kerry specification. Monitor test results in relation to these specifications.
    • Development and adherence to Quality SOP’s.
    • Support the plant Food Safety & Quality System to produce safe quality food, acting as SQF Practitioner.
    • Prepare test schedules and procedures, solutions, and reagents for use by laboratory personnel in conducting tests. Maintain Good Laboratory Procedures (GLP’s) including calibration. Order laboratory supplies.
    • In conjunction with the Quality Manager, update and support food safety programs and food safety systems: HACCP, sanitation, and environmental monitoring program. Maintain the quality systems for the plant. Ensure work instructions, SSOPs, procedures and other pertinent documentation is up to date. Recommend revisions to plant work instructions as needed.
    • Participate in quality complaint investigations. Verify corrective action completion and continued conformance.
    • Perform and/or participate in internal audits while ensuring compliance to internal quality policies and applicable local regulations through the audits, observations, process reviews, and development of corrective actions with site management.
    • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
    • Support facility during inspections, customer audits, communications, commercialisations, and other interactions with regulatory agencies or customers.
    • Provide technical assistance to quality assurance and operations.

    Documentation Supervisor Responsibilities


    • Develop and maintain qualified personnel as Microbiologists and Product Documentation Specialists within the plant Quality department. This involves organizational development, personnel assessment, training, direction and motivation.
    • Develop and maintain procedures which assure product and service quality, product testing and clearance, product disposition/release system and rework control.
    • Communicate and enforce Kerry standards in the areas of microbial testing of finished product, water and environmental sampling and regulatory compliance.
    • Verify that production and laboratory documents for low acid and syrup products, reviewed by the Product Documentation Specialist(s), meet all critical control points, quality/regulatory and thermal process specifications.
    • Ensure all microbiological records pertaining to the products meet Kerry and/or customer specifications.
    • Documents the release of quality products.
    • Retain and investigate products that do not meet required specifications.
    • Update and modify specification sheets for production and the Quality Department, when necessary.
    • Provide sampling and testing requirements for hold product and final disposition.
    • Assist in the taste panel sensory program and analyse the results for pending product release.
    • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.






    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Food Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or similar science/Engineering.

    Knowledge of relevant GFSI standards such as SQF, BRC, IFS or FS 22000

    Minimum 1-2 years of quality experience.

    Experience with laboratory, quality, and/or food safety systems

    Experience in a plant environment preferred.



    Knowledge and understanding of Food Safety regulations, FSMA, and industry and market trends.


    Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with a variety of stakeholders.


    Effectively organize and manage numerous work tasks of a diverse nature.

    Strong Computer Skills (Microsoft Office)

    HACCP/food safety experience

    Experience in food, chemical, or

    Pharmaceutical industry.


    Knowledge and experience with quality management systems, GFSI audit standards, SSOPs, Environmental hygiene programs, prerequisite programs and HACCP.




    Communication and interpersonal skills.
