    Description and Responsibilities

    The Senior RD&A Manager position will support Kerry’s Ganeden-Wellmune business, marketing, commercial, R&D and regulatory teams with an initial focus on probiotics targeting digestive and immune health technologies.

    • In this role, the individual will help develop the portfolio of evidence supporting the efficacy of Kerry’s growing portfolio of probiotics targeting digestive and immune health. This will include participating in the design and execution of human clinical studies to support product efficacy and Kerry’s business objectives.
      • Provide support to relevant business and R&D teams for customer projects with probiotic and other digestive and immune health ingredients.
      • Assist in formulating a long-term probiotics research program and its global implementation; ensure the program supports the global Ganeden-Wellmune Strategy to advance our position in the market
      • Interface with internal and external scientific experts, to identify scientific opportunities to help advance product innovation; support business regulatory functions with claims and positioning
    • The individual will help to develop and evaluate the totality of the existing scientific evidence and translate into product positioning and messaging, within the context of existing regulations; leverage the totality of the evidence to:
      • Provide ongoing technical support to internal staff and customers to position Kerry’s digestive and immune health technologies for growth
      • Support innovation for new product development and new business opportunities to meet customer and consumer needs
      • Identify and evaluate technologies and ingredients for new product development; leverage existing technologies to identify innovation opportunities
      • Articulate and translate the research program to customers as well as top-line and bottom-line impact to business growth and be able to engage with business leaders on business impact
      • Communicate with key opinion leaders and other officials to help advocate for relevant guidelines, regulations and translate guidelines for product development

    Qualifications

    • Ph.D. in Food Science or Nutrition (experience with probiotics is mandatory), microbiology, Biochemistry, Physiology, Biology or other related fields
    • 7+ years of probiotics experience & Post-doctoral and related work experience; demonstrated industry knowledge and expertise
    • Significant experience with public-speaking to technical and business audiences, speaks with a knowledgeable voic
    • Applications knowledge within the Food & Beverage industry is a strong pre-requisite
    • Membership of various scientific committees, in particular those associated with Probiotics, Immune Health, Functional Foods and/or Supplements would also be a distinct advantage to the ideal candidate.
    • Scientific totality of evidence review and translation to business opportunities, messaging and positioning
    • Clinical research experience – protocol development, study design, recruitment, monitoring, laboratory analysis, project management, etc.
    • Experience managing technical staff, preferred
