    Description and Responsibilities

    The Project Engineer can be located at our Byesville, OH OR Savannah, GA locations. Both are Liquid Beverage facilities. 

     

    Qualified candidates must have minimum 5 years of comprehensive knowledge of food/beverage engineering principles and sanitary design standards for food & beverage manufacturing.

     

     

     

    Responsibilities are listed below:

     

    Leads and supports various projects in Capital improvement ranging $5k - $3MM, and operational improvements up to $500k in scope. This position requires strong knowledge in Project Management, process and packaging improvements, and sanitary design for food manufacturing. The Engineer will lead these projects through accurate project forecasting and budgets, equipment procurement, scheduling, integration, installation, start-up and successful project closure. Personnel Safety and Food Safety design standards will lead priority in all projects.  

     

    • Manages process, packaging and facility capital projects from a technical, financial and manpower perspective.
    • Directly participates in the design, development and creation of scope for engineering projects or the engineering work of the department.
    • Experience with justifying, implementing and closing capital project ranging from $5k-$3MM.
    • Creates project estimates and timelines for initial project consideration.
    • Identifies and proposes equipment and/or processing options to meet objectives within projects.
    • Leads the bid process, budgeting and submission process for capital and operational projects.
    • Directs the installation, commissioning, qualification and verification for regional engineering capital projects.
    • Manages and coordinates the activities of teams and contractors to ensure successful project execution.
    • Creates and publishes schedules to prioritize the actions of project management
    • Leads project meetings for design and project reviews.
    • Communicate clearly, both written and verbally, with contractors, plant personnel, peers and management. 
    • Prioritizes and leads projects with an added value for the plant in line with methodological principles
    • Ensure all engineering work aligns with corporate engineering standards, including sanitary design, ergonomics, employee safety and food safety requirements.
    • Identifies operational improvements and initiates cost savings measures.
    • Ensure all safety, quality, and regulatory standards, specifications and policies are met or exceeded.
    • Maintain a consistent and reliable attendance record.
    • Cultivate a positive and innovative work environment.
    • Complete other assignments and initiatives as requested.

    Qualifications

    • Requires a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or similar engineering discipline.5+ years’ experience for projects exceeding $1MM.
    • CAD Experience preferred and an intermediate level or better.
    • Minimum 5 years of comprehensive knowledge of food/beverage engineering principles and sanitary design standards for food & beverage manufacturing.
    • Experience with Microsoft programs (Project, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
    • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in Food, Beverage, Pharmaceutical, or biotech industries.
    • Overall 10+ years’ experience in project engineering.
    • Willingness to Travel 20% - 40% based on project needs
    • Extensive knowledge of machinery applications and design of food processing and packaging equipment.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills with direct reports, peers, and management.
    • Skilled communicator who can provide expectations with vendors and contractors.
    • Ability to coordinate with other departments and facilities within the organization.
    • Ability to efficiently and effectively manage time and complete projects.
    • Detail-oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
    • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of peers, managers, clients, and customers.
    • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
    • Must use logical thought processes and deductive reasoning, including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
    • Willingness to work evenings, weekends and holidays when required.
    • Willingness to Travel 20% - 40% based on project needs.
    • Possess a valid driver’s license.
    • Master's degree preferred.
