    Description and Responsibilities

    Kerry FI&A seeks to identify an outstanding senior executive to lead our Global Animal & Pet Nutrition business and who can pragmatically develop and execute against an investment agenda in profitably growing this business globally.  The successful candidate will have full profit and loss responsibility for this profitable, high growth division that we aim to make a market leader in the industry.  The position requires a strategic leader who is comfortable operating with speed and flexibility in a fast-paced, high-growth entrepreneurial environment. The VP/GM will be an inspirational, hands-on leader with high energy, drive and capability to continue with the impressive growth of the buisness.

     

    The VP/GM, Animal & Pet Nutrition will manage a direct and matrixed team. He/She will provide overall management, direction and leadership, setting the strategy for long-term growth and profitability while ensuring the continued execution of immediate-term success and operational enhancements.  Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:

     

    • Develop the business strategy that leverages prudent investment and drives category leading performance, including positioning in the competitive market. These strategic efforts will focus on delivering sustainable revenue growth and disciplined cost management in order to help build shareholder value.
    • Manage day-to-day operations of the division, including formulating and implementing long- and short-range strategic plans, policies and programs to achieve revenue and profitability objectives; ensure that performance meets established objectives.
    • Build a best-in-class operational discipline in the organization with well-articulated processes, procedures and metrics to guide the business, and with a continuous improvement mindset that protects and enhances margins.
    • Foster a performance-oriented culture, coupled with an enduring sense of entrepreneurialism, where successes are celebrated and employees are motivated and rewarded for both individual and team contributions.
    • Develop and manage an effective organization with appropriate infrastructure, systems, programs, and methods to achieve shareholder expectations, market opportunities and major growth objectives. Access the effectiveness of all operations and take corrective action, as appropriate.
    • Provide guidance to the sales and marketing teams to assess market voids or untapped market potential and develop strategies to realize this potential in order to build profitable market share.         Ensure the development of a customer-centric organization that leads the industry in innovation and in customer intimacy.
    • Deliver results and grow market share in this high growth category. Work closely and collaboratively across the Kerry organization to maintain a robust innovation pipeline, delivering new products that are grounded in rigorous insight/ analytics.
    • Manage and lead a multi-functional team. Maintain a team-oriented working environment that promotes open discussion on important issues, a high level of personal commitment and accountability, and a continued focus on profitably growing a portfolio across several categories.
    • Promote Kerry’s business externally. Play a leading role in developing and maintaining the Company’s image and reputation in the marketplace.
    • Work collaboratively with the senior management team at Kerry; participate in the strategic development of the business across all categories and businesses.
    • Lead a culture of growth, supported by the continued development of appropriate infrastructure, processes and operational efficiencies to maximize current financial performance, maintain the highest standards of quality and corporate integrity, and support the growth strategy for Kerry overall.
    • Further develop and implement a comprehensive, longer-term strategic plan for dynamic growth along with the senior management team including long-term and short-term growth objectives and clear accountability metrics.
    • Ensure the leadership of a highly integrated, cohesive leadership team that works collaboratively to achieve business objectives.

     

    Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of leadership success built over a career in the animal and pet food industry or associated industries. He/She will be a proven general manager with P&L experience.  He/She will be a high impact, dynamic and visionary leader, with a solid record of achieving results individually and through others; an intelligent, strategic thinker with proven ability to execute plans and achieve objectives.

     

    Additionally, this individual must possess, but not be limited to the following:

     

    • Keen understanding of all P&L components. Prior management experience with P&L responsibility in a similar sized business.
    • Broad knowledge of animal and pet nutritional industry with leadership/management experience a must.
    • A clear understanding of how to effectively partner in a customer-centric fashion in order to develop win-win solutions and opportunities with customers.
    • Demonstrated prowess in being commercially effective in sales and marketing disciplines vs. being overly theoretical. Possessing a track record of driving growth behind proper investment and innovation strategies.
    • Ability to/interest in interacting and engaging across the FI&A team but also across Kerry overall.
    • Seasoned management professional with strong business development and marketing/sales acumen; proven expertise at establishing a growing relationships at all levels with existing and new customers.
    • Hands-on, energetic performer with a track record of success in managing the day-to-day operations with rigor and discipline. Pedigreed training and development at a larger enterprise, but operating (at heart) with an entrepreneurial spirit.
    • An action-oriented leadership style. He/She will have strong personal character and integrity and be able to move others to action through influence and persuasion.
    • Experience with complex businesses with global reach and presence.
    • Able to effectively manage both directly and indirectly and to work effectively with functions and departments in the parent to resolve issues, reach agreements and collaborate on strategic initiatives.
    • Passion for developing/enhancing customer partnerships and the “customer experience.”
    • Excellent communication skills, with the capability of translating the company’s ongoing strategic product/market vision into sound operating business plans and processes, and the charisma necessary to effectively persuade and motivate employees at all levels. Also able to effectively present information to senior management and field personnel in a concise and organized manner.
    • Proven leadership success within relevant global company combined with recent general management experience in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial organization.         Global experience would be a bonus.
    • Intelligent, creative and strategic, with tremendous energy and drive, eager to make a significant impact across the organization.
    • Must be a leader who leads by example and is capable of inspiring dedicated professional at all levels.        
    • Multi-dimensional thinker who not only leverages past experience, but also adapts to new approaches and developments in a changing and competitive marketplace.
    • Possess the intellectual capacity to understand all facets and drivers of the business, and make decisions with complete recognition of short- and long-term implications.         A team orientation is a must, as is a consistent “can do” attitude.
    • 30-40% travel
