Description and Responsibilities


This position will be responsible for the development of new, innovative products (soups, sauces, sides and dips) from concept to final production that meets our customer’s needs and expectations while accomplishing Kerry's financial and operational objectives. This includes leading and overseeing all stages of product, process development, formulation optimization, and sourcing of ingredients and raw materials to insure that the company is using “low cost” formulations to drive efficiency and cost savings, while meeting customer’s expectations.



  • Developing culinary “gold standard” prototypes and current BOH products into production ready food products using industrial formulations and ingredients applicable, to meet our customer’s expectations.
  • Requires “hands on bench development” of products and scaling them up through pilot/plant testing and through commercialization, in one of Kerry's manufacturing facilities.
  • Communication and coordination with suppliers of ingredients to ensure that the most cost optimized ingredients are being used.
  • Employ continuous communication link with customers culinary and R&D teams to build strong relationships and streamline approval processes by formulating and making the right product the first time.
  • Actively participate in menu ideation sessions with our customers.
  • Work with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Purchasing, and QA to ensure smooth start-up of any new product or use of any new process to meet demands of the customer for timing and delivery into market testing as required.
  • Develop and conduct customer presentations in support of marketing, sales development, and customer development.
  • Support the R&D group in other special projects as needed and required.  This position must have a good understanding of fundamentals for moving products
  • from bench to full scale plant production.


  • 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong background in restaurant cookery and advanced culinary skills.
  • Applicable food processing technology expertise.
  • Basic understanding of food chemistry, sensory, microbiology, food packaging systems and food engineering.
  • Ability to drive flawless execution of presentations.
  • Problem solving and complaint resolution.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams at multi levels within the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict management skills.
  • Contributing to high performing and effective teams.
  • Experience in kettle cooked and flowing products, especially soups, sauces and side dishes.
  • Requires basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.


  • Associates in Culinary Arts Degree OR Degree in Food Science or Culinology, or other related culinary disciplines. 
  • Three years minimum restaurant experience as a chef, or three years minimum industry experience as a research chef will be considered as meeting the education requirement.
  • BS Food Science with Culinary Certificate or AOS Culinary Degree with relevant work experience preferred

 20-30% travel required.
