    This is a position for a Controls Technician with excellent communication skills and knowledge of process control systems related to the Food & Beverage industry. Individual must be able to perform independently or as a member of a project team. The Programmer will manage, and maintain all plant programmable control systems. The programmer will assist in the analysis of current programs, oversee integration of new automation systems and supervise the work and training of junior programmers. This position reports directly the Maintenance Manager.

    Under limited supervision this individual must have the ability to provide support to production and maintenance in troubleshooting and repairing automated production equipment. The ideal candidate is flexible, a team player, works well under pressure in a fast pace environment. The automation techs often works long hours in challenging environments with tight deadlines.

    Description and Responsibilities


    • Control Tech must have knowledge of SCADA, HMI, and PLC.
    • Configure and control Variable Frequency Drives.
    • Assist in the integration, startup and debugging of plant floor equipment.
    • Perform troubleshooting and repair the facility instrumentation and PLC control systems.
    • Provide programming support as needed, and on-call, for critical process failures.
    • Install and maintain data-acquisition and communications equipment for archival records.
    • Perform calibrations on wide range of temperature and pressure measuring equipment.
    • Perform maintenance on process instrumentation including 4-20 mA control devices.
    • Assist the maintenance department in preventative maintenance duties with specific reference to automation processes.
    • Assist production operators, maintenance, and management, to address/correct quality issues.
    • Keep accurate records of all hours logged, inventory parts used, and services performed.
    • Follow, monitor, and ensure compliance with all safety, food safety, environmental, GMP rules, regulations and policies.
    • Understand and apply the FDA 21-CFR standards for food manufacturing.



    High School Diploma or GED required.

    AS Computer, Electrical or automation Technologies degree, or equivalent training and experience in process control is preferred.


    • 1 - 3 years of previous experience in industrial process control preferred.
    • Familiarity with Rockwell (Allen Bradley) PLC/HMI programming.
    • Familiarity with electrical schematics and process flow diagrams.
    • Experience in operation or engineering work within large scale industry (food, beverage, etc.)
    • Database scripting, SQL query generation for MS SQL, MySQL or Oracle
    • AutoCAD experience in the controls engineering field
    • Electrical troubleshooting, install, and repair experience
    • Basic understanding of Ethernet based networks
    • Knowledge of National Electrical Code and NFPA regulatory standards
