The Gridley Illinois facility is a non-smoking location
The Packer is responsible for making boxes, taping boxes, inspection while boxes are filling, and auditing product prior to shipping. The Packer is also expected to maintain the work area of the facility and complete reasonable tasks as assigned. We look to produce quality products at all times.
Inserts inner packaging into box if applicable (ie. plastic bag)
Places empty box on scale under depositor and watches product going into packaging
Ensure proper quantity is deposited in packaging container
Views product and/or packages coming off conveyor and counts out packages
Inspects packaged product to ensure that product is packaged according to specifications
Assemble the container and tape or pushed the container through tape machine
Unloads packaged product onto pallets
Reads production schedules for arrangement of packages on pallet
Tag and ready all pallets with product labels
Replenish packaging supplies such as boxes, cartons, or labels
Mount supplies on spindles or places supplies in hopper or other feeding devices
Document product information (i.e. units, size, weight)
Responsible for daily upkeep of line area, keeping the area up to par per plant standards
Operate fork truck to load trailers, as each pallet is stacked per product specification
May assist other crewmembers when necessary

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED preferred, other manufacturing experience equivalence accepted
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, work orders, and standard operating procedures. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one or small group situations
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as weights, pounds, quantities and pallet configurations. Ability to analyze and interpret data. Ability to apply concepts of basic math.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to operate material handling equipment, hand power tools, standard hand operating and manufacturing packaging equipment. Prior manufacturing/food experience preferred
