Description and Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and calibrate a RTD
  • Troubleshoot and calibrate a PH probe
  • Troubleshoot and calibrate a Conductivity probe
  • Troubleshoot and calibrate a level sensor
  • Copy current PLC programs from back-up directory to the maintenance laptop
  • Go online with a PLC and troubleshoot why a device will not operate
  • Verify that a signal from a proximity switch is reaching the PLC program
  • Verify that the PLC program is telling an output to energize
  • Bypass an input signal from the PLC to allow equipment to run in an emergency situation
  • Change scaling in a PLC to allow instruments with different ranges to be changed when like spare parts are not available. Example: Replace a 0-200 range RTD transmitter with a 0-300 range transmitter.





Skills required to performing this job: 

  • Electrical knowledge
  • Repairing and/or replacing pumps, motors, filters, pipes.
  • Welding & cutting and grinding along with the operations of a wide range of powered shop tools. 
  • Strong analytical and trouble shooting skills are required.
  • Serves on Plant Safety Committee and attendance at company sponsored HACCP, SQF and Safety Training programs

On Call:

  • Must be available for emergency call-in to perform equipment and system repairs on a rotating basis per established procedures to insure equal distribution of call-in responsibilities. 

Computer Skills: Ability to operate all information technology related business systems, programs and applications in a

manner that achieves efficiency, accuracy, and relevancy of information processing and reporting as it applies to this



Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as dictated letters or memoranda, invoices, company

policies and various documentation, paying particular attention to grammar. Ability to process routine reports and

correspondences. Ability to communicate effectively with employees.


Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers,

common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.


Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or

diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


Other Skills & Abilities: Requires organizational and planning skills. Requires the ability to perform simple data entry

functions on network computers and the occasional operation of basic office equipment (calculator, FAX machine,

copier etc) Must be able to operate a forklift safely and efficiently

Protective Equipment – This position may need personal protective equipment that is appropriate for the job being performed, such as hearing protection, food safety clothing and other.
