Description and Responsibilities


  • Ensuring compliance with the Safety Action Plan (SAP) and Environmental Management Plan (EMP).
  • Collaborating with management, production employees and others, to ensure compliance with related regulations, policies, procedures and processes.
  • Facilitating related training to employees and others to compliance with regulatory standards, increase safety proficiency and promote safety consciousness. 
  • Inspecting safety supplies and other outsourced safety products for compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitating plant safety committee meetings, SAP and EMP meetings.
  • Facilitating all incident investigations, insurance inspections and O.S.H.A. investigations and inspections.
  • Ensuring corrective actions are tracked and completed in a timely manner.
  • Inspecting facility to detect existing or potential accident or health hazards and recommend corrective or preventative measures.
  • Facilitating the updating of Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for each operation as needed.
  • Facilitating unannounced safety audits/inspections on all shifts and in the office.
  • Maintaining all environmental/safety-related records required by corporate, regulatory, or other entities.
  • Overseeing new hire on-boarding process at plant, that aligns with corporate resources.
  • Administering HR work flow, record keeping, and being point of contact for corporate HR issues.
  • Regular and punctual attendance and physical presence in the workplace.
  • Timely and accurate completion of duties.
  • Occasional travel, up to 33% of the time.








Computer Skills: Ability to operate all information technology related business systems, programs and applications in a manner that achieves efficiency, accuracy, and relevancy of information processing and reporting as it applies to this



Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as dictated letters or memoranda, invoices, company policies and various documentation, paying particular attention to grammar. Ability to process routine reports and correspondences. Ability to communicate effectively with employees.


Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.


Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


Other Skills & Abilities: Requires organizational and planning skills. Requires the ability to perform simple data entry functions on network computers and the occasional operation of basic office equipment (calculator, FAX machine, copier etc) Must be able to operate a forklift safely and efficiently

Work Environment – The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles. The noise level is usually moderate.


Protective Equipment – This position may need personal protective equipment that is appropriate for the job being performed, such as hearing protection, food safety clothing and other.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: This position requires an Associate Degree in safety or related field of study, or some college coursework and three to five years of job-related experience.  The preferred education and experience is a Bachelor Degree in safety, human resources or related field of study and five to seven years of experience.
