Description and Responsibilities



  • Responsible for the sampling and testing influent and effluent according to WDPES permits.
  • Must obtain the following licenses per the letter of agreement within the labor agreement: “general” waste treatment, “activated sludge” and “phosphorus”  
  • Takes appropriate action whenever an inspection reveals items that do not meet Kerry or DNR limits. 
  • Cooperatively works with Ingredient Division Marketing, local management and other Warehouse Operators to maximize plant warehouse capacities and reduce outside warehouse costs. Plans shipments and transfers to minimize transportation costs. Schedules shipments and receipts with trucking firms in a manner that optimizes warehouse efficiency. 
  • Maintains waste water treatment facility interior and exterior cleanliness per Kerry Master Sanitation Schedules, SQF, and Regulatory requirements. Performs inspections and monitors for potential insect and rodent infestations. Reports all pest related problems to Management and takes immediate action to minimize the potential for further contamination.
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance on equipment within the WWTP. 
  • Operates forklifts and tractors in a safe manner in accordance with Kerry, government, and industry regulations. 
  • Performs daily inspections and pre-operational maintenance checks on forklifts/tractors as required.
  • Operates PC to generate reports for WWTP running parameters utilizing Kerry designated software. 
  • Performs assigned data entry, record keeping, and inventory monitoring functions according to established procedures in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Under the direction of the plant supervisor, EHS specialist, maintenance supervisor or plant superintendent, works with the DMS system to generate purchase orders, and receipts for raw materials, ingredients, supplies and equipment maintenance.
  • Utilizes WWTP lab results to isolate/trouble shoot issues within the WWTP.  
  • Will be the lead for all trouble shooting/ maintenance items within the WWTP. 
  • During the absence of direct Supervision, the WWTP operator independently prepares DNR reports and maintains all WDPES standards
  • Serves on Plant Safety Committee and attendance at company sponsored HACCP and Safety Training programs Reports and records all deviations from specified operating parameters and “critical control points,” as established by HACCP and Kerry procedures.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with co-workers.  When necessary, communicate with plant visitors or guests in a professional, helpful, timely manner to project a positive image of Kerry and our products.
  • Complying with all safety and work rules and regulations, and departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Regular and punctual attendance and physical presence in the workplace.
  • Timely and accurate completion of duties.
  • Other duties may be assigned by supervisor
  • Complete special projects as assigned





Computer Skills: Ability to operate all information technology related business systems, programs and applications in a manner that achieves efficiency, accuracy, and relevancy of information processing and reporting as it applies to this position.


Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as dictated letters or memoranda, invoices, company policies and various documentation, paying particular attention to grammar. Ability to process routine reports and correspondences. Ability to communicate effectively with employees.


Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.


Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


Other Skills & Abilities: Requires organizational and planning skills. Requires the ability to perform simple data entry functions on network computers and the occasional operation of basic office equipment (calculator, FAX machine, copier etc) Must be able to operate a forklift safely and efficiently

Protective Equipment – This position may need personal protective equipment that is appropriate for the job being performed, such as hearing protection, food safety clothing and other.



A high school diploma, or GED is preferred.
