Description and Responsibilities

This individual is responsible for allocation of materials and supplies based upon specifications as well as organizing procurement activities with various departments to satisfy plant needs.


  • Develop safety stock metrics, minimum order quantities, and optimal quantities for raw material procurement.
  • Utilize MRP and other MAPICS tools to identify requirements for order fulfilment, safety stock requirements and new product introductions.
  • Responsible for completion and negotiation of purchase order flow including: order entry, expediting, deferment, cancellation, PO creation, PO maintenance, PO approval process, and communication with vendor. Maintains purchasing records as required.
  • Broker freight as required in order to ensure supply requirements are met.
  • Manage all supply chain related MAPICS data and master data maintenance to ensure accurate system data.
  • Purchase at lowest cost consistent with approved quality, procurement and delivery standards. Handle any service issues with vendors.
  • Maintain a list of acceptable vendors and update vendor profile information
  • Understand raw material purchasing specifications including: kosher certificates, vendor product data sheets, import/export information, and other specifications related to the materials procured.
  • Ensure aged, slow moving, and obsolete inventory action items are addressed timely.
  • Provide analysis and follow-up to ensure all plant Service, Inventory, and other KPI’s are met or exceeded.
  • Provide procurement and processing support for co-manufacturing functions.
  • Support other functions through audits, analysis, and procurement activities.
  • Participate in key process improvement or cost reduction projects.


Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred.

  • 1-2 years of experience in manufacturing and distribution environment preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of computerized integrated information systems (manufacturing, materials management, production planning, procurement and distribution) and a understanding of manufacturing material flow in a plant.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access)
  • Strong written and verbal English language skills
