Description and Responsibilities

Supports the Sales Director in planning, organizing, forecasting, implementing and facilitating all facets of the Company sales strategies involving meat/food industry related customers. (Ideal candidate would come from a meat processing background.)  This includes, but is not limited to, providing leadership, training, direction and motivation of Territory Sales Managers, Technical Sales Representatives and brokers/distributors assigned to the region. Continually provide input and competitive assessment relating to product development and enhancement.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Work intimately with the Territory Sales Managers on the continued implementation and communication of their Strategic Account Plans.
  • Mentor, coach, and lead the assigned Territory Sales Managers in the management of their geographic regions.
  • Plans, prepares and directs opportunities for new sales growth potential within North America. Including, the management of all opportunities within Salesforce.com
  • Leads efforts related to discovery and attainment of new business opportunities.
  • Conducts needs assessment and implementation of necessary programs relating to training, marketing, advertising and competitive issues.
  • Assists with and provides input relating to product development and enhancement.
  • Ensures the continuing maintenance and future growth of existing accounts through the proactive supervision and monitoring of sales within the region.
  • Conducts and provides ongoing performance evaluations, coaching and communication to regional personnel.
  • Maintains in house documentation and customer files including relevant customer relationship management software systems (Salesforce).
  • Establishes and maintains effective and positive relations with customers and company agents.
  • Promotes a positive company image and fulfills other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Provides input and assists with hiring of sales, technical sales and administrative positions within the department.
  • Exhibit thorough understanding of sales within the region and ability to provide monthly comprehensive variance explanations.
  • Encourage capability and/or trend presentations to strategic/key customers and oversea process to ensure maximum ROI. 

Qualifications

Education:

 

Bachelors in Food Science, Marketing and/or equivalent relevant experience.

 

Experience:

 

5-10 years of food ingredient sales experience, preferably with the Meat Industry, casing, casing netting and or meat additives

2-5 years field sales experience founded in a relationship sales model.

Demonstrates ability to develop effective sales trending and pipeline models in support of business forecasting.

Demonstrates the ability to effectively develop sales talent and sales organizational depth.

Demonstrates the ability to effectively convert sales strategy into an executable sales initiatives in support of organizational goals.

Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize and train others to use existing sales systems to effectively monitor, manage and forecast sales results.

Demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with customers, brokers, distributors and company agents in a manner that promotes the overall sustainability of the business.
